“The Artist on his way to the studio meets a mysterious lady. She is the muse and his inspiration. This chance encounter is the result of the artist’s roving eye, searching for his subjects.”
The art of Allen Hessler is rooted in the observation of his world and experiences. Through the filter of the artist’s imagination, this data is processed. The resulting images are placed together like pieces from a mysterious whole, which in turn create pictures that tell a story.
Storytelling is indeed an important aspect of Hessler’s art, probably going back to his beginnings as a student of illustration. His work can fluctuate between representation and expressionism, with lines , colours and shapes, that move the eye throughout the picture, as if dancing to visual music. His representations transport the viewer into the subjective reality of the artist’s mind.
